What to Expect
Big Cedar Hunts is a hunting service operating 3 day deer hunts in the NW corner of Oklahoma. In 2005 we celebrated ten
years in the hunting business. Last year’s hunting season was our best year ever with many quality deer being harvested.
We lease dozens of properties in five NW OK counties that total tens of thousands of acres. In ten years of hunting we have
learned a few things about how to enhance the overall experience of our guests. Please review all of this “What to Expect”

Expectations
We believe that the most important part of any hunt is to make sure to prepare your hunters ahead of time and to make
sure that the expectations are set in advance of our hunter’s arrival. This is a fair chase hunt! It is a guided hunt with
3 full days of hunting, therefore stands are scouted and placed well in advance of your arrival. We have a good balance of
older mature bucks in the herd. We have many young deer that would not meet our standards of minimum harvest that must be
passed on and cannot be harvested. A minimum “shooter” buck with us should be 8-10 points and outside the ears for inside
spread of the rack. This should put each minimum “shooter” deer well into the upper 120” to 130” score. Our hunters will
have an excellent chance of encountering one or more bucks scoring within this minimum standard during their 3 day hunt.
Most of our bucks taken each year score between 130” and 150” however we take many deer above 150” each year. Our hunters
each season take several and see many more Boone and Crocket giants above 170”.
Fair Chase At Fair Prices
If you want a hunt with a one on one guide to hunter ratio and a guaranteed kill similar to a high fence hunt please
consider another option. Our hunts are designed and managed for individuals willing to put the time and energy into spending
as many hours on stand as possible within the three day hunt. The cost of our hunt is extremely fair for the caliber of
trophy that is possible while hunting with us. You could spend many thousands for a hunt similar to what we offer. We
believe that with any hunt the meaning of the trophy is in most cases directly proportionate to the degree of difficulty in
achieving it. With a lot of luck you could kill the deer of a lifetime in the first 5 minutes of the first day but in most
cases you will need to invest some effort to be successful. We are fortunate to have a large client base of individuals who
love to hunt and come back year after year for two reasons. The first reason our clients rebook each year is that they know
what kind of deer we have and secondly it is affordable enough to come out each and every year.
